IPL 2017: Rohit Sharma Guide His Team To Victory Over Gujarat Lions

After the poor run start in the tournament, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma said about his best performance 40 off 29 balls to carry his team over Gujarat Lions in Bengaluru.

In the previous match, Rohit was out of form first in the Indian Premier League, but the match against Lions has seen unbeaten to the end to guide his team to victory.

When asked about his comeback form in the tournament, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit said, “I thought you will ask me about the win. I have been a bit let down at the start, it’s not the standard I set for myself, but what is gone is gone and I am not thinking about it. It’s good to get some runs and I am very happy with the win.”


On Sunday, Rohit mentioned that he may start the innings at some stage in the Indian Premier League but it’s totally depending on the need of the team.

Rohit always bats in opens for Indian but in edition 10 of IPL he batted No 4. When asked about his bat, he said “I would love to open, but you have to see certain things from the team’s perspective, find the right balance. (I) batting at 4 or 3 gives the team right balance.”

Rohit added, “Last year we felt we wanted someone to bat till the end which was not happening and we were not able to finish the games. I am open to anything whatever the team requires. I will go and open also and I am not closing my options right now.”


Rohit said about Rana, who has scored 53 off 36 balls, “I am not going to change (the order) as there’s a brilliant batsman (Rana) at no. 3right now. He has got the Orange cap. He’s a fearless batsman and takes on the bowlers. It’s his ideal spot.”

The 29-year-old Mumbai Indians captain Rohit said On Sunday that he intentionally decided not to play against the spin. “These guys were bowling googlies and I was playing against the spin which I was not supposed. Today (Sunday) I just decided to play straight.”

Rohit honor to his teammate’s performances, he said: “Lots of credit to the players as notching up four consecutive wins is never easy, especially after we had been challenged in terms of conditions.”
