In the Presentation ceremony:

Australian captain Aron Finch said when he asked about the match experience, “Credit to the Sri Lankans. They came out swinging and attacked the chase. When you have the power to hit down the ground and also scoop over the keeper, it is tough to bowl to. I thought Turner gave us a chance there, but unfortunately, it did not go our way. I thought we were a bit short. We lacked maybe a 15-plus over. There were a lot of positives too, and I am looking forward to Geelong.”

Then the winner team Captain said at the presentation ceremony party, “Thanks to the Sri Lankan supporters. We have beaten South Africa and Australia – one of the best teams in the world – and it is a good feeling. All the batters enjoyed the game. Fielding is the area where we have to improve. The bowlers, though, did well to keep them to 168.”

Hasim AmlaSouth African leg spin bowler Imran Tahir selected as a Man Of The Match for his quick five wickets.

On the presentation party:

The Man of the Match, Imran Tahir said, “It’s a very special feeling every wicket I take for South Africa like to celebrate. Stay with my plans; it’s a small ground, less margin for spinners.”

South African Captain Faf du Plessis said, “Anything can happen in a one-off T20. I thought we played well. It’s nice coming back here. The last 6-7 months has been outstanding for us as a team.”

Mourinho

On Friday, Manchester United FC has won their first-leg at 3-0 in Europe League round-of-32 tie.

When asked by media about the result, United manager Mourinho said “I am… especially because in the first half, we played so bad, and we managed to finish it winning 1-0 when we don’t deserve. It was down to lack of concentration.”

“I had the feeling immediately in the dressing room… too noisy, too funny, too relaxed. Then my assistants had the feeling in the warm-up, with some of the guys not really focused on the getting the right adrenaline in their bodies,” he said.

“Even myself on the touch-line, I felt it was difficult, the communication. I needed the half-time. I am not happy with it. At half-time, the result could be 1-1. I always think we have to play every game with the same attitude.”

Anil Kumble and Ashwin

World’s No.1 Test all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently made a record by taking fastest 250 wickets. Now his eyes to touch the Anil Kumble’s record which is 619 wickets in the Test match.

Ashwin said about his dedication to the country, “I have played a significant part in every single Indian victory ever since I started playing for the country. I am not saying it in a tone of arrogance or cockiness. That’s what I have strived hard to achieve. I want to be the decisive factor wherever I go. Once I become the best beggar in the city, I would want to be the best in the country and so forth. I am happy the way I am.”

On Thursday when Ashwin asked about his plan for the upcoming four-match Test series, he said, “I’m going to look at the series as a 20-day program. I will try to get through the 20 days. My injury concerns have been a bit of an issue. It was on the back of my mind in the last two series. Against New Zealand and England, I could perform only 60-70 percent of my potential.”

“I’m trying to get better and put more strength on my body. Sports Hernia is something that can’t be managed easily. It’s been a big challenge for me. It takes a lot of time to warm up these days. For me, trying to phase out the 20 days is very important. I will get there in the most effective manner.”

Anil Kumble

Before the practice match, David Warner said that he had a different game plan for Ashwin.

By following that topic, Ashwin replied, “Honestly, I don’t have any plans for him. Aussies are all fine players. Steve Smith is going to be the most important player for them. Test cricket is not like T20 or one-day where you come up with a single plan and succeed in executing it. You have to try and restore balance and intensity over a five-day period. Warner is a massive player, and he can change games around in a session.”

“But, he can’t come and play on the fourth day as he does on the first. I think we have got enough resolve to stop him. Test cricket is not just delivering one decisive blow on that particular day. It’s going to be a long-haul challenge and how well one starts is going to dictate the series,” he added.

Few year ago, Muttiah Muralitharan called as Don Bradman by Steve Waugh, and three days ago he gave that title to Ashwin. When he asked about for it, he replied, “In reality, that’s not something I am looking at. It’s a massive achievement to go anywhere near Murali’s tally of 800 wickets.”

“If I get there, it would be like surpassing my human limit. I started playing Tests a bit late, and I have always fought against the odds. And, I don’t think I would want to extend one wicket more than what Anil Kumble (619) achieved. That’s a matter of honor,” he added.
