On Tuesday Italian Cup semi-final, Juventus beats Napoli at 3-1 with the help of three decisive penalty choices in a contentious first leg. Napoli had broken down the deadlock with a well-worked team goal in 36th minute.

Arkadiusz Milik and Lorenzo Insigne had played a very fast one-two and crossed into the box for Jose Callejon to hit at the back post. However, the energy had changed after breaking two contentious penalties goals to Juventus.

Napoli takes a decision to break its silence after the match. Director Cristiano Giuntoli said “We haven’t decided to interrupt our media silence, but it seemed right to us to congratulate the lads, who had a great game. We lost tonight because of decisions that weren’t just debatable, but were shameful and hurt Italian football.”

juventus

“The first penalty shouldn’t have been given, and the second was even less of a penalty because (Napoli goalkeeper Pepe) Reina got the ball … Ours was a penalty. This referee is shamefull. Congratulations to the team.”

Napoli’s players Kalidou Koulibaly were a moderator to have tripped Paulo Dybala shortly after halftime. The Argentina forward player Dybala dusted himself off before sacking decision of spot-kick into the bottom left corner, sending Reina the wrong way.

Juventus’s second penalty arrive in five minutes after Gonzalo Higuain score 2-1. Napoli’s goalkeeper Reina comes out to get the ball. However, Juan Cuadrado brought down and swift counter attack.

The players of Napoli were angered to referee decisions and ignore their claims. Napoli goalkeeper Reina said “The result changed only because of the refereeing decisions. What should I have done on Cuadrado? Disappear? If I get the ball I get the ball; it’s not a penalty.”

juventus

“And no one’s talking much about the penalty on Albiol. That was more a penalty than the other … Tonight the result was decided by refereeing mistakes, the whole of Italy saw it.”

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini later brushed off the controversy surrounding the penalty decisions. He said “It’s bar talk. After Roma’s win at Inter on Sunday, everyone talked about refereeing decisions and not about Roma’s great performance.”
